Cyber Monday is the now-slightly-awkwardly named counterpart to Black Friday: another 24 hours of full-on shopping frenzy during which retailers slash the prices of thousands of popular products. It always takes place on the Monday after Black Friday, which means that this year it takes place on Monday, 1 December 2024

It was created by US retailers in 2005 to encourage people to shop online, back when Black Friday itself was still far more of an in-person event. It quickly became one of the busiest shopping days of the year, but is now slightly overshadowed by Black Friday, given that many people buy their Black Friday deals online anyway. That said, it is still a significant shopping day, with some $11.3 billion spent by US consumers on Cyber Monday 2022.
