Two of the Tony’s Chocolonely products could be a health risk to shoppers

A ‘do not eat’ warning has been issued over popular chocolate items sold in the likes of Sainsbury’s and Tesco.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has announced that two of the Tony’s Chocolonely products are being recalled over the possible presence of stones.

The Dutch chocolatier’s have revealed two of its products could be a health risk to shoppers earlier this week and unsafe to be consumed.

The Tony’s Chocolonely Everything Bar, which can be purchased from supermarket giant Tesco, and the brand’s Dark Almond Sea Salt bars, which can be picked up in Sainsbury’s, are being recalled with an urgent warning sent to customers.

The Tony’s Chocolonely 180g Everything Bar with the batch codes 4331, 4332 and 4333, with a best before date of November 26, 27, or 28 2025 are being recalled.

And the 180g Dark Almond Sea Salt bar with the batch codes 162633, 162614 and 163061 are also being recalled with a best before date of February 28 or April 2 2026.

The FSA update reads: “The possible presence of small stones in the products which makes them unsafe to eat. Tony’s Chocolonely is recalling the above products. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products.

“If you have bought any of the above products do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a refund or replacement.”

The recall notice says: “Tony’s Chocolonely is recalling certain batches of 2 specific products in The UK and Ireland, due to a risk of small stones being present in the product.

“Whilst the chance of any individual product being affected is low, we have decided to take this step in order to ensure the safety and satisfaction of Tony’s Chocolonely consumers.

A Tony’s Chocolonely spokesperson said: “We are extremely sorry to have to issue this recall, and for the inconvenience that this will cause people who purchased these products.

“Whilst the probability of a product being affected is low, we always put the safety and satisfaction of our consumers first and that is why we have made the decision to recall these products. We apologise to consumers and our partners for the impact this will have.”
