Football fans have joked that Neymar suffered a ‘broken penis’ injury on his second Santos debut on Thursday after a social media clip went viral.

Neymar, who became the most expensive player in world football when he left Barcelona to join Paris Saint-Germain for £200m in 2017, moved back to Santos in January after Al-Hilal agreed to terminate his contract.

Santos is the Brazilian club where Neymar started his career, with the versatile attacker producing 136 goals and 64 assists across 225 games, before going on to become an absolute superstar at Barcelona and PSG.

Neymar, 33, plagued by injury issues across his career, made his second Santos debut on Thursday as his boyhood side drew 1-1 against Botafogo.

A video from the match has gone viral on social media, which shows Botafogo’s Danilo Barbosa hitting the ball into Neymar’s private parts.

Football fans have been reposting and reacting to the clip with many poking fun at Neymar’s injury record, while others mentioned his sister.

‘Great, now he’s hurt with a broken penis – 6 years recovery,’ @durtmagurt posted on Reddit.

‘The one injury that prohibits visiting his sister’s birthday,’ @SarcoZQ said. @Kriss-Kringle added: ‘A ball in the balls.’

‘A month before his sister birthday as well brutal,’ @TheWawa_24 quipped about the viral Neymar clip.

‘With an injury down below, he can now focus on football,’ @imsahoamtiskaw posted. ‘Smart planning by Santos.’

Other football fans said that Neymar was ‘cursed’ and felt that the former Barcelona and PSG superstar ‘can’t catch a break’.

Neymar, meanwhile, was left emotional after making his second debut for Santos, the same club where football legend Pele spent almost his entire career.

‘I am very happy,’ Neymar, who has earned 128 caps for Brazil, said. ‘We lived great moments here. There’s still a lot that could come.

‘I love Santos. I have no words to describe what I felt tonight when I stepped again on this pitch.

‘I need minutes, games. I’m not at 100%. I didn’t expect to run and dribble so much tonight. I think I’ll feel better in four or five games.’
