Before some kids even know what sex is, Kat Dennings was making her first onscreen appearance in Sex and the City.

The actress recently recounted her guest role on the legendary HBO series at age 14, when she played Samantha Jones’ (Kim Cattrall) wealthy heiress client Jenny Brier in the Season 3 episode ‘Hot Child in the City’ in 2000.

“Well, it was very interesting because, of course, I wasn’t allowed to watch Sex and the City as a child,” she explained on The View. “And we didn’t have cable even, our family, so, I really had no idea what the show was.

“So, I auditioned for it. I was like, ‘What a weird show. What a weird title.’ And then on the way home, on the train, we saw a building — like, a Sex and the City billboard across the whole building,” added Dennings.

In the episode, Samantha is reluctantly hired to throw Jenny’s bat mitzvah, during which she learned that New York kids grow up way too fast. “I’m gonna totally f— at least three of those five NSYNC guys after the afterparty,” says Jenny in one scene, adding: “I’ve been giving blowjobs since I’m 12.”

For Dennings, it felt like her big break. “And after I did that and I walked into, like, The Gap in Pennsylvania, people were like, ‘Oh my God, it’s Jenny Brier! Like, give her the employee discount!’ I was getting discounts!” she recalled.

Dennings, who has since become known for her roles in Two Broke Girls, Dollface and the MCU, can currently be seen starring alongside Tim Allen in Shifting Gears, airing Wednesdays at 8/7c on ABC.
